Joining Instructions
Become a visible, valuable and connected leader. Take your staff network to the next level.
Before the first session
You can join from any internet-enabled device, although we strongly recommend you use a tablet, laptop or PC. You should be able to join using your usual web browser, however, you may be prompted to update to the latest version of Zoom. We recommend doing so prior to the day of the first session.
If you haven't used Zoom recently, please try out your setup at https://zoom.us/test. Check that your connection, audio and video all work. During the test, have a practice at opening documents on your computer so you can see both at the same time, as you may want to do this during the course to look at course materials.
Finding perspective
When leading a staff network it’s easy to focus on the challenges, the negatives, the seemingly insurmountable. One way to keep a balanced perspective, stay optimistic and build your emotional resilience is to track your weekly wins.
Here is a free downloadable version of a weekly template to capture your accomplishments and achievements which will help to do just that.
You can recreate this as a spreadsheet tracker but there is a mental benefit to writing this down.
Preparing for each session
A few days before each session you will receive
a link to the relevant free downloadable resources
a reminder of the link to join the live session on Zoom
the session preview and learning outcomes.
Joining the weekly session
Choose somewhere to join the course where you are comfortable, have a good internet connection and have minimal distractions.
Please try to join the course early. Just like a ‘real life’ training session, the room will be open 15 minutes ahead of the start time. This gives you time to make sure there are no technical hitches, say ‘hello’ to people as you enter the room, grab a coffee and still be ready to start on the hour.
12:45 Zoom room open for networking and introductions
13:00 Session begins
14:00 Q&A, discussion and networking
14.30 Zoom room closes
We recommend that you mute your microphone when not speaking. These sessions are fully interactive so please feel free to unmute and/or use the chat function if you have questions during the sessions.
You have some options for the layout on your screen - you can adjust it to make it more comfortable for you. When the trainer does not have the slides showing you can switch between ‘speaker mode’ to focus on the person speaking or 'gallery view' - this is done via the button in the right-hand corner of the screen labelled ‘view’.
At the end of each weekly session
You will be asked to complete an evaluation form. Your feedback is incredibly important because it helps to kee the course relevant and useful. We kindly ask that you complete and submit the evaluation as soon as possible.
After the course
Whatsapp and LinkedIn groups
Your cohort will be invited to create a Whatsapp group. For some, this will be great whilst for others your first thought will be ‘Not another Whatsapp group!’ Please respect individual choice and don’t take it personally. An alternative space for connecting is the private LinkedIn group.
Monthly group coaching call
You will be invited to attend the monthly group coaching call on Zoom - a no-judgment space where you can develop as a change practitioner, build a support network and work through issues.

This training is for you if…
You are the leader or DEI&B champion of an existing or new employee resource group, affinity or other staff-led network.
A common challenge for employee groups is that attendees become demotivated because they turn into talking shops with little output.
We all love awareness events but many networks find it difficult to deliver initiatives that will have a sustainable impact on inclusion and belonging.
